Shannon mcgill

Shannon’s eyes are bigger than her stomach in most areas of life. She enjoys many forms of creating—painting, sculpting, carving, music making, dancing—but visual art came most naturally.

A graphic designer and creative director by trade, she originally hails from Nebraska, but the ocean and social justice pulled her to the Bay Area and now to Santa Cruz. She's spent her life paying curious attention, to tide pools, to the strange details of being alive, to the tender bits people share in heart to hearts. Her work is an extension of that attention.

She's been creating since she was four years old and still feels like she's just getting started. Through illustration, design, and co-founding the nonprofit Core Matter, she loves the journey of using visual art and design to help us all imagine and create something better.
